Is there a place called heaven

That accepts the homeless man

Who is trying his hardest

To do the best he can?

Is there a place called heaven

That accepts the same-sex couple,

Who strive to remain faithful

And not cause others trouble?

Is there a place called heaven

Where a soldier can go to pray

To ask for real forgiveness

For things he cannot say?

Is there a place in heaven

Where there is safety for a child

Who has not experienced kindness

And someone has defiled?

Is there a place in heaven

For a sinner tired of sinning.

Will he find true acceptance

And a life that’s worth living?

Is there a place in heaven

For the humbled poor

Who has to ask for food

Behind a shuttered door?

Is there a place for a rich man

Who refuses to share his wealth

With others less fortunate,

And spends it all on himself?

Is there a place for a liar

Who ruins a good man’s life,

And takes away his home

And seduces  his sweet wife?

Is there a place for a schemer

Who takes from the innocent

And spends their hard-earned wages

And refuses to repent?

Is there a place in heaven

For those who ridicule

The men who seek to be holy,

And call them a fool?

There is bound to be some confusion,

Of that, there isn’t a doubt,

Who God will bring in

And who He will leave out.
