Jesus, when you walked on water,
Felt the waves beneath your feet,
Did you feel your body falter?
Did your heart skip a beat?
Who was there for you to cling to?
Whose strong hand reached out to save
The most precious life within you?
Did you feel like being brave?
Did you take the power inside you
Given by the Holy One,
And strive to do your Father’s bidding,
And feel glad when it was done?
When you walked beside the seashore,
Many thoughts were kept within.
Did you sense your death was coming,
And your blood would cover sin?
Did you yearn for peace and comfort?
Did you dream of love and joy?
Did you hear the sound of sea gulls,
Climb the hills like a small boy?
You were human, yet divine.
What kind of feelings did you feel?
What kind of dreams did you dream?
What part of you seemed more real?
