The wolf rises from slumber
And paces his place of safety.
Something is out of balance,
And he knows to be alert:
Quick to move, to fight, withdraw,
Whatever it takes to keep safe,
And protect the ones inside.
He points his muzzle, sniffs the air.
His body tenses and becomes still.
He waits for he knows his role well.
It is he who keeps them safe, alive.
