The River rises in the darkness,

And the wind snaps giant trees.

Cold moves down from the mountains,

And plants droop as they freeze.

The storm releases its fury,

And a huge tree falls down,

To lie helpless and alone

On the hard, frozen ground.

Nature can hit without warning.

Destruction, can be the result.

Losses occur in life,

And often, it is nobody’s fault.

For storms are a part of nature,

And life gives and it takes.

Trees fall in the forest,

And loving hearts can break.

I miss seeing people smile,

Found on Pinterest on 5-30-17. Painting of Vicente Romero. Polly Weitering Art Paintings.

Taking the time to help each other,

Sitting down at the kitchen table,

And complimenting one another.

I miss seeing children read,

Playing outside in the sunlight,

Laughing so hard they cry,

And walking together at night.

I miss children saying hello,

Gathering flowers for the old,

Asking questions about God,

And sharing mittens when it’s cold.

Found on Pinterest on 5-8-16. The rain.

What happened to this world

 When we all fell asleep?

Technology took control,

And all we do is weep.

The rain falls gently in

The early morning light.

A wall of gray clouds

Keeps the sun out of sight.

Rain drops sound like

Tiny little feet

Dancing on the surface

Of my window seat.

The rain hits me hard

In the center of my heart.

Nothing is the same

When a friendship falls apart.

Storm clouds block

The sun from getting in,

Because my soul knows,

I’ve lost my best friend.

Rain can comfort us,

Or it can cause great pain.

It can change our history,

Where nothing feels the same.

We can decide to leave,

Or we can choose to stay,

Knowing the pain inside

May never go away.

Jack was a very curious bee,

Still he avoided the boundless sea.

He knew if he fell in to the waves,

He’d never know nectar from a pear tree.

So he huddled near by, under a leaf,

With hope in his heart and the strong belief,

That someday he could find love again

If he could live through this terrible grief:

He once loved a bee as sweet as wine,

And he made her his valentine.

She would race from him to the flowers

And dance with him before she’d dine.

They came together one stormy night.

She laid by him, snuggled in tight.

He wanted her for the rest of his life.

He found her dead in the morning light.

She had fallen down

From the tree to the ground.

She had fallen so quickly

Without a sound.

He mourned her for days

Her sweet, gentle ways.

He’d imagine her dancing

In  the sun’s rays.

Found on Pinterest on 6-1-17. awesomeinventions. com.

He decided to travel home for a while,

And try to forget her wonderful smile.

He traveled back to where he was born,

Knowing full well he was in denial.

He learned that: Bees come and die;

Sometimes there just isn’t a why;

Live in each moment as much as you can;

And don’t let good love pass you by.

Lay me down, beside the still water

Where the wild flowers grow,

And the rush of the wind

Bends the grass to and fro.

Turn my face towards the sun,

So its rays will keep me warm.

Build a shelter over me

To protect me from the storm.

Please, do not grieve for me

As I cross to the other side,

For there are trees and flowers,

And God’s arms are opened wide.

He will cradle and rock me

Until I’m strong again.

I will soon feel  peace

And joy growing within.

When we were young, we shared so many things: We danced in the rain and skipped rope in the sunshine. We told each other secrets and wrote our names in the sand. We swore to God  we’d be friends forever. There was love in our hearts, a song in our souls, and  truth in our words. We laughed while sipping tea and watched movies and cried. I swear, back then, we could read each other’s minds and give smiles that could light the darkness. We spoke words that set our souls on fire.

I knew our friendship was forever. We said we would grow old together and lean always on each other in the good times and the bad. We took for granted each golden moment and watched the sands of time drift through our nimble fingers. We should have found the time to hug each other more. We should have spoken the  words more often that would comfort our hearts in times of severe adversity.

We could not know then, that time would  erase  pieces of our cherished memories. That age would rob us of our strength and agility, and dim the light of love within our eyes. We thought we were so invincible, so strong, and powerful. We believed we could save the world with our magic words and solve the problems of the universe.

As the years passed, I saw my friend slowly disappear. My caring words were forgotten in the hallways of time, and my name became  elusive and difficult for her to find. Confusion  soon replaced the smiles upon her face that once lit up my world. She could not recall the funny things we did or the places we visited.

It felt like some part of me was dying, some vital part of me missing, that had held the joy of  our friendship and the shared moments of our lives. My grief became inconsolable as I realized there were forces stronger than our friendship tearing us apart. My heart wept rivers of tears which formed a lake within my soul.

There came a time when I finally understood  the nature of love, that it burned with an  eternal flame .Every time we think it will die, it flames anew. I still carry with me the memories of her smile, her laughter, and her joy. They live forever in my heart. And when we meet on the other side, and we become as new, our fires will light the path to our hearts, and our friendship will start anew.

A friend asked me why,

Why do you grieve about her?

Why after all this time?

And I replied, full of surprise,

Why wouldn’t I?

We had fought

In a war together,

Reached impossible goals,

Why wouldn’t I grieve?

Somebody came

To help me face

The darkest night

Of my soul.

Why wouldn’t I grieve?

She wiped away

the tears

From my eyes

When I thought

My heart

Would break.

Why wouldn’t I grieve?.

She knew the fears,

I carried inside.

She accepted me

With my wounded pride,

The Price Of Love.

Google+ photo., grief, loving someone, pain, Pinterest quote., price of love, walking away.

Love carries a heavy price when it comes and dwells inside our heart. We feel such joy for a while, such unbelievable joy. The world is brighter, our thoughts happier, our step is lighter. We believe for a period of time we can be whatever we strive to become. We believe we will always be accepted, appreciated, respected, until the day comes when we are not.

We are told, ” I am too busy to care, too busy to give, too selfish to receive anything from you I do not need or like.” It matters not that the gift came from your heart, and you made it with your hands because you wanted to uplift, inspire, give beauty to those you care about.

And so, we awaken to the reality of what is. We stare in shock, than shame, and later anger that the gift of ourselves  that we gave with such joy means nothing. That who we are as a person means nothing. The tears come, and with it, the wailing of a broken-heart who believed again in love that could not last or never really was. The grief comes and we are filled by it. The grief shatters us like delicate glass thrown against a brick wall, leaving little behind that resembles what we once had or was. We pick up the pieces like  old people weighed down by the passing of time. And we put away our dreams, our hopes , and we learn to walk away because it is the only way we can keep a shadow of our self-respect. Love has a price and it is pain.  Yu/stan/kema.

God, grief, loss of innocence, loss of the ideal, Pinterest quote., prayer, weary

Found on Pinterest on 1-16-15.

Found on Pinterest on 1-16-15.

All of us at times get to the place where we have to retreat, away from people, to find solace, to find a place to heal. We become battered in trying to believe man can reach out and be all that he is meant to be. We need to retreat when we realize that people can fail us, disappoint us. That what we thought was real is not real. It is hard when we find out that people are not who you thought they were. You end up feeling a deep sadness and you grieve for them and you also grieve for yourself. You grieve for the lost ideal, the loss of innocence, and the loss of trust. Sometimes you want it so much, that shared connection to God, that you become blinded by reality. It is then that we must find something bigger than us, finer than us, so we can finally let go and weep. This quote  is excellent for describing this state of the heart.
